ASICS X JJJJOUND GEL-KAYANO 14

The GEL-KAYANO™ 14 marks the first collaboration between ASICS and JJJJound. JJJJound was originally launched in 2006 as a digital mood board exploring the recurring patterns in design. Over the next decade, JJJJound evolved beyond the realm of the Internet and was made tangible by collaborations with artists and brands that share their strong design ethics. The result is a commitment to a different way of thinking; finding new ways to interpret products by respecting their original story. A like-minded approach to design fuels this project. ASICS was founded on the belief that the best way to create a healthy and happy lifestyle is to promote total health and fitness. In an effort to continue developing products with this vision, ASICS opened the Research Institute of Sports Science in Kobe in 1990. Since then, many remarkable technological innovations in sports shoes and apparel have stemmed from this unique site where scientists, athletes, and coaches work together.

With a shared passion for research and development, the opportunity to collaborate was obvious. Together, ASICS and JJJJound reinterpret the GEL-KAYANO-14’s retro running shape with its heavily-referenced 2000s aesthetic. Performance capabilities are advanced with updated materials and componentry while the style’s signature design elements remain intact. The result is introduced in two colourways, comprising crisp white mesh, metallic silver overlays, and debossed detailing throughout. The silhouette is intersected with co-branded elements and reflective touches that stay true to the historical sneaker’s design language.
